Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Residential HVAC Estimator & Designer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for designing residential HVAC systems and producing accurate, competitive estimates that meet customer needs, code requirements, and company profitability targets. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in residential HVAC systems, excellent customer-facing skills, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-home or plan-based evaluations to assess residential HVAC needs
- Design complete HVAC systems including equipment selection, ductwork sizing, load calculations (Manual J, S, and D preferred)
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for system replacements, upgrades, and new residential construction
- Develop proposals that clearly explain system options, efficiency ratings, and pricing to homeowners
- Collaborate with sales, installation, and service teams to ensure designs are executable and accurate
- Ensure all designs and estimates comply with local codes, regulations, and company standards
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HVAC equipment, technologies, and energy-efficiency best practices
- Review project outcomes to refine estimating accuracy and system performance
- Use estimating, CRM, and design software to document and track projects
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in residential HVAC design, estimating, or system sales
- Strong understanding of residential HVAC systems, including heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioners, and ducted/ductless solutions
- Proficiency in load calculations and system design principles
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to residential job sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- ACCA certifications (Manual J, S, D)
- NATE certification
- Experience with HVAC design or estimating software (e.g., Elite, Cool Calc, or WrightSoft)
- Background in high-efficiency or electrification-focused HVAC systems
- Previous customer-facing or consultative sales experience
